By definition martial arts can be termed as:- It is a codified system and practices of fighting, and a variety of purposes, including self-defense, defense and law enforcement applications, competition, physical, mental, and spiritual growth, entertainment, and the protection of a country’s intangible cultural legacy, are served by martial arts.

The word “martial arts” refers to a variety of training methods and fighting styles that are performed for a variety of purposes, including self-defense, competition, military and law enforcement work, as well as personal, spiritual, and physical growth. Additionally, it’s a very well-liked method to maintain your fitness, health, and wellness.

  1. KARATE – JAPAN

Being one of the most renowned martial arts, if not the most well-known, it has some fantastic moves with strong punches, kicks, and blocks. Early in the 20th century, karate emerged in Japan, where the term “karate” means “empty-handed” in English. Karate is primarily a self-defense and fighting art. However, the karate way of life goes beyond the martial arts practice, where one will appreciate developing virtues like respect and discipline and duplicating them in daily life.

  1. KUNG FU – CHINA

             Chinese martial arts come in a variety of types, some more traditional than others, and the word    

   “Kung Fu” has come to encompass them all. It’s a well-known martial art form, and prominent

 practitioners consist of Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, and Jet Li. It has become well-known through

 cinema and television.

  1. JUDO –  JAPAN

Judo represents one of the most recent types of martial arts, and that implies it has consequently

been affected by various styles that have gone before it. It is a well-liked competitive sport both

in Australia and around the globe that requires both exceptional physical ability and mental

fortitude to defeat an opponent. Judo techniques can be used to raise and toss opponents onto

their backs so that the participant can use the opponent’s power against them. Once their

opponent is on the ground, they can control them by pinning them down and using various

tactics, like joint locks and chokeholds, until their opponent yields.

  1. MUAY THAI – THAILAND

Muay Thai (also known as Thai Boxing), which has been hailed as the official sporting event and

traditional combative discipline of Thailand, originated as a kind of close combat in the 13th

century. It is a full-contact activity where competitors must use grappling, kicking, cinching, and

punching tactics to overcome their opponents. Striking an opponent demands both physical and

mental stamina. It is a different martial art that fights by using one’s body as a weapon.

  1. KALARIPAYATTU – INDIA

The modern Indian martial art of Kalaripayattu has its roots in Kerala, a region on the country’s

southwest coast. One of the oldest still practiced martial arts in India, Kalaripayattu is renowned

for its long history among Indian martial arts.

The Vadakkan Pattukal, a compilation of songs about the Chekavar of Kerala’s Malabar area,

makes reference to Kalaripayattu. The main premise of Kalaripayattu, according to the Vadakkan

Pattukal is that understanding the art should be applied to further deserving causes rather than

one’s own self-interests. Kalaripayattu is an art of combat involving weapons and combative

methods that is exclusive to Kerala. It was created for the old battlefield (the name “Kalari”

means “battlefield”).

  1. TAEKWONDO – KOREA

Taekwondo, Tae Kwon Do, or Taekwon-Do (/taekwndo, /taekwndo) is a martial art. Korean: 

태권도/跆拳道 /taekwondo/ is a style of martial arts that emphasizes head-height kicks, spin

jump kicks, and quick kicking techniques. It also includes punching and kicking skills. The

precise translations of “kicking,” “punching,” and “the practice of or way of” are used to describe

tae kwon do. They are a type of martial arts in which a practitioner occasionally uses weapons

along with hands and feet to strike or protect at any time or place. Taekwondo physical training

has a purpose and encourages mental fortitude through mental fortification.

Coming from a martial arts background, I know that martial arts are not only a way for self-defense but also self-discipline, anger control, emotion control, and many other things that can help oneself. Martial arts have helped me in maintaining my overall health and my mental health even.
